YOUR DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR:

County Commissioner

Kent Watson

A Case for Change
Lifetime focus on our Community - My Journey

I’m proud to say I’m a local, born and raised in Tuscarawas County. Married a young woman who’s also a local - Susan (nearly 52 years now!), who operates a business locally. We’re proud to have raised our sons in Tuscarawas County. I know the County well and am extremely active in our community.

I consider myself progressive, a believer in volunteerism, and giving back to the community I love – that’s why I’m running for County Commissioner. When I’m not with family, friends, or at my church, I’m busy with several community boards and committees. I’ve been described as an honest, open person… a leader who values communication, innovation, and problem solving.

I’m retired from a local manufacturer where I had broad responsibilities over people, products, and services and worked with customers locally, nationally, and internationally. Despite a busy and successful career, I’ve remained active in the community by giving back and improving the quality of life for the residents of Tuscarawas County.

What Kent Watson can offer to residents of Tuscarawas County

As a Democratic candidate, I can add depth and breadth to the representation our citizens deserve. My goal is to be your working, full-time Tuscarawas County Commissioner, readily available, with an open-door policy, 5 days a week, at the Commissioners’ offices in the Courthouse. I want to preserve a sense of community and rural character while promoting economic growth and job development and never losing sight of quality of life. I want to see a county where all citizens can thrive safely with dignity and respect. As a trusted steward of Tuscarawas County’s future, I commit to delivering services that will improve lives, reflect our values, and preserve our unique quality of life.

A Case for Change – My Vision & Strategy

My vision is simple:
   • Accountability through availability
   • Sound fiscal decision-making with growth

My strategies are also straightforward:

1. Be available, with an open-door policy, 5 days a week, at the Commissioners’ offices in the Courthouse. Be accessible via town hall meetings, email, and cell phone. Hold regular meetings at practical times for residents to attend, currently not the practice.

2. Sound fiscal decision-making begins with a balanced budget. Each spend needs to be thoughtfully considered against goals, needs, and affordability.

My vision for growth and positive change includes 4 points at this time:

a. Economic Growth - Work with community leaders to attract new businesses to Tuscarawas County.

b. Internet/Broadband - Internet and Broadband, crucial for Education, Small Businesses, the Agricultural sector, and the work-from-home movement, is not accessible throughout the entire County. We need to continue the work that the Commissioners have started.

c. Tuscarawas Regional Technology Park - The Tech Park is an underutilized gem of Tusc County with access to a highly qualified workforce. I plan on working with the Community Improvement Corporation, Kent State University Tusc Campus, Buckeye Career Center, The Small Business Development Center at Kent State Tusc Campus, Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce, and others to attract additional companies to the Tech Park.

d. Quality of Life - Tuscarawas County cherishes its sense of community, natural environment and rural character.  My vision is to preserve that character while promoting economic growth and job development while never losing sight of the quality of life.

As a trusted steward of Tuscarawas County’s future, I’m committed to delivering services that will improve lives, reflect our values, and preserve our unique quality of life. But I need your vote to accomplish these critical goals.

“Working today for a STRONGER TOMORROW”

Your vote on November 3rd will make a positive change for Tuscarawas County.
